Book now for event on March 9th in Hull

Our next ESRC event is happening in Hull on Wed 9 March 2016.

Our keynote speakers are: Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty (pictured) and Dr Patrick Yarker, Learning without Limits. There are also four interactive and engaging workshops which all focus, in one way or another, on the issue of ‘what is freedom in education’? These include a session with Janet Huscroft, Head of Hook School in Goole (one of the only primary schools in England which has no doors on classrooms, no fixed timetable, no ability grouping, and no numeracy and literacy hours); a self-organised learning environment (SOLE) on the question of ‘what is freedom’?; a presentation about the nature of ‘academic freedom’ in the UK and Mexico, and a session on cooperative higher education.

This event is FREE and open to anyone – teachers, parents, students, academics, education activists, voluntary and community sector.

The event will take place from 12noon-5pm.

Book now to confirm your place (email C.M.McKinlay@hull.ac.uk).
